Pattern for Square:

With yellow - Make a magic circle.

Round 1: Ch 2 and make 15 DC in the ring. Sl st to join. (15)

Fasten off and cut the yarn. Pull the tail to close the ring. Join the next colour (for the petals).

Round 2:  Working in the st after the join, make 1 standing SC.

Make 1 SC and *ch 7 and working back down this chain, make 1 SC in the second ch and each following ch, then make 1 SC in the next st of the main round*.

Rep this for 8 petals total. At the end of the round, sl st to join in the first SC of the round.

Round 3: Make 1 sl st. For each petal across you will work up one side and down the other.

Make *1 SC, 1 HDC, 2 DC, 2DC inc, skip 1 st* while working up, and *(3DC inc, ch 1, 3DC inc), 2DC inc, 2 DC, 1 HDC, and 1 SC* while working down.

For the 2 SC between the petals, skip the first st and make a sl st in the second.

At the end of the round, make 1 SC in the sl st at the beginning of round.

Round 4: You’ll be working BEHIND the petals.

Rep *ch 5, skip the petal, and make 1 SC in the sl st between the petals* across until you reach the end of the round.

Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends. Attach the green yarn in any ch 5 sp with 1 standing DC to begin the square.

Round 5: In the first ch 5 sp, make 2 DC, ch 2, 3 DC.

Working only in the ch 5 sp across, make 3 DC to make the square’s side then (3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC) in the next to form a corner.

At the end of the round, sl st to join.

Round 6: Ch 3 and make (3 DC, ch 2 3 DC) in each corner.

Before and after the 3 DC clusters of the sides, make 3 DC (there should be two clusters for each side).

At the end of the round, make 2 DC in the section you started in and sl st to join.

Round 7: Ch 3 and make 1 DC in the corner ch sp.

When making your next DC for the corner, work through the ch sp of the adjoining petal so that it becomes attached to your square. Make (1 DC, ch 2, 1 DC) in the square only. Then make your next DC by working through the ch sp of the petal again. Make the remaining 1 DC in the square only. This is how you will work each corner, attaching the petals.

For the sides, work the first 3 DC cluster. The second cluster will attach a petal by working 1 DC as normal, 1 DC through the ch sp of the petal, and 1 DC as normal in the square only. The third DC cluster will be worked only in the square.

At the end of the round, make 2 DC in the section you started in and sl st to join.

Round 8: Ch 1 and make 1 HDC in the same space and each st across.

For each corner ch sp, make (2 HDC, ch 2, 2 HDC). At the end of the round, sl st to join.

Each side should have 19 st.

Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave in the ends.
