CARON BIG CAKES BABY BLANKET

Finished size approximately 33” x 38”

Materials:

5mm Hook

2 x Caron Big Cakes yarn in colourway “Jordan Almonds”

USA STITCH TERMS

Abbreviations:

ch = chain

ss = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

shell = (4dc, ch2, dc) all into same stitch / space

repeat the pattern between the asterisks * *

PATTERN MULTIPLE 10 + 1

BLANKET

1. ch 111

   dc into 4th ch from hook and in each ch until end
   
   

2. ch1 & turn (ch1 does not count as a stitch at any point in this pattern) dc in same stitch. dc in next.

   *skip 1, shell (4dc, ch2, dc) in next, skip 3, dc in next 5 stitches* until last 7 stitches remain.

   skip 1, shell, skip 3, dc in next st, dc in top of ch 3 from row below
   
   

3. ch1 & turn. dc in same stitch, dc in next

   *shell in ch2 space from row below, skip next 4, dc into each of the 5 dc from row below* until final shell of the row. End with shell into ch2 space from row below, dc in last 2 stitches.

4. - 65. REPEAT ROW 3
   
   

Row 66 - Straightening off row - ch1 & turn. dc in 1st 2 stitches. Then:

*hdc into dc from shell, skip ch2 space, sc in next 2 stitches of shell, hdc in next 2 stitches of shell, dc in next 5 dc* until last 2 stitches. End with a dc into last 2 stitches. Do not cut yarn

BORDER

1. ch1 & turn. hdc in same stitch

   hdc in every stitch across the top row until final stitch

   in final stitch, place (hdc, ch2, hdc) then hdc around side of same stitch (see video)

   evenly place 2hdc in each row down the side until final row

   in last stitch of the side row, place hdc in side of stitch then (hdc, ch2, hdc) into top of stitch
   
   

   hdc in every stitch across the bottom row until final stitch

   in final stitch, place (hdc, ch2, hdc) then hdc around side of same stitch
   
   

   evenly place 2hdc in each row back up the side until final row

   in last stitch of the side row, place hdc in side of stitch then (hdc, ch2) into same stitch as inital hdc of the round. ss to top of hdc to join
   
   

2. ch1, hdc in same stitch

   hdc in every stitch of the round below and in the ch2 corner spaces place (2hdc, ch2, 2hdc) ss to join to 1st hdc of the round.
   
   

3. REPEAT ROW 2
   
   

4. ch1, sc in same stitch

   sc in every stitch of the round below and in the ch2 corners spaces place 3sc

   ss to join to 1st dc of the round. Cut yarn and weave in ends :-)
