Crochet Zig Zag Pip Stitch Written Pattern
Learn how to crochet the ZigZag Pip Stitch! This stitch is built over 4 rows and is what I would class as a intermediate stitch pattern. It looks amazing in 2 colours or also fantastic in solid shades.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
sp = space
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet (yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw loop back through stitch [3 loops on your hook] yarn over and pull through 2 loops [2 loops left on your hook] yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops to complete the stitch)
SPECIAL STITCHES
DC2TOG = Double Crochet 2 Together (yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw loop back through stitch [3 loops on your hook] yarn over and pull through 2 loops [2 loops left on your hook] yarn over, insert hook back into stitch, yarn over, draw loop back through stitch [4 loops on your hook] yarn over and pull through 2 loops [ 3 loops on your hook]. Yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
Repeat the pattern between the asterisk * …. *
PATTERN MULTIPLE = 4+ 2
Any yarn, any hook size
For colour changes: on the final stitch of your row, stop before the final yarn over and place new colour on hook, draw new colour through last 2 loops of stitch. (please see video)
To start, chain any multiple of 4 + 2.
sc into 2nd ch from hook.
*ch1, skip 1 chain, sc into next* to end.
ch3, turn dc into 1st ch sp
*ch1, dc2tog starting the 1st leg in the same ch1 sp and ending with 2nd leg in next ch1 sp*
End with 1st leg of last dc2tog in ch sp and 2nd leg into the sc from the row below.
ch1, turn, sc in top of dc2tog, sc in ch1 sp.
*ch1, skip dc2tog, sc in ch1 sp* across the row.
End with an additional sc into the top of the ch3 from row below.
ch3, turn. Start dc2tog with 1st leg in the same stitch and end with 2nd leg into ch1 sp.
*ch1, dc2tog starting the 1st leg in the same ch1 sp and ending with 2nd leg in next ch1 sp*
End with 2nd leg of dc2tog in sc from row below THEN dc in same stitch.
ch1, turn. sc in same stitch.
*ch1, skip dc2tog, sc in ch1 sp* across the row.
End with final sc in top of ch3 from row below.
REPEAT ROWS 2 - 5 FOR PATTERN
To end after final stitch of your project: ch1, cut your yarn (leaving a decent tail for weaving in) pull tail through ch, pull tight and weave in ends.
