Crochet Sunflower Sunburst Granny Square
Learn how to crochet the classic Sunburst Granny Square! Made in just 4 rounds, I will show you step by step how to crochet this gorgeous square motif. It looks fabulous in sunflower colours but equally beautiful in any shades! The perfect stash buster for your crochet blankets.

USA STITCH TERMS
Abbreviations:
ss = slip stitch
Ch = Chain
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
TR = Treble Crochet
Special Stitches:
Puff = Puff Stitch : yarn over, go into stitch, yarn over and pull back through 3 TIMES (7 Loops on hook) yarn over and pull through all 7 loops. Chain 1 to secure the puff stitch.
DC3TOG = Double Crochet 3 Together: yarn over, go into stitch, yarn over and pull back through , yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat 2 more times (4 loops on hook with 3 half completed dc stitches hanging from the hook) yarn over and pull through all 4 loops to complete the stitch.
DC4TOG = Double Crochet 4 Together: yarn over, go into stitch, yarn over and pull back through , yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat 3 more times (5 loops on hook with 4 half completed dc stitches hanging from the hook) yarn over and pull through all 5 loops to complete the stitch.
Round One - in chocolate
Ch4, ss to 1st ch to join and form a ring. ch3 (counts as dc), 15dc into the ring. Ss to top of initial ch3 of the round. Ch1 and cut yarn leaving decent length tail to weave in. (16 dc total)
Round Two - in pumpkin
Join new colour to top of any dc from round below. Ch2, puff into same stitch. Puff in remaining 15 stitches from the round below. Ss in-between 1st and 2nd Puff of the round. Ch1 and cut yarn leaving decent length tail to weave in. (16 puffs total)
Round Three - in gold
Join new colour inbetween any of your puff stitches from the round below. Ch2, DC3TOG into same space. Ch2.
Then *DC4TOG, Ch2* in between puff stitches from the round below. Ss to the ch2 space between your beginning DCTOG clusters of the round. Ch1 and cut your yarn leaving decent tail to weave in. (16 DCTOG Clusters and 16 ch2 spaces in total)
Round Four - in cream
Join new colour to any ch2 space from the round below. Ch4 (counts as TR), 2TR into same space.
Then working into the ch2 spaces from the round below: 3DC, 3HDC, 3DC (side formed)
In next ch2 space: 3TR, Ch2, 3TR (corner formed)
Then working into the ch2 spaces from the round below: 3DC, 3HDC, 3DC (side formed)
In next ch2 space: 3TR, Ch2, 3TR (corner formed)
Then working into the ch2 spaces from the round below: 3DC, 3HDC, 3DC (side formed)
In next ch2 space: 3TR, Ch2, 3TR (corner formed)
Then working into the ch2 spaces from the round below: 3DC, 3HDC, 3DC (side formed)
To end the round, work 3TR into the very first ch space where you first joined your yarn, ch2 and ss to the top of the inital ch4. Ch1 and cut your yarn leaving a decent tail to weave in.
