Crochet Ribbon Lace Scarf [Free Video Tutorial & Written Pattern!]

How to Crochet a Ribbon Lace Scarf! This stunning scarf looks complicated but is in fact, a very simple and EASY 3 row repeat!

Made entirely in one piece, it shows off your variegated yarns beautifully. If you are looking for something a little bit different to crochet that has the “wow” factor, then this is the scarf for you!

🧶 Yarn & Hook information: Suitable for any yarn - use the recommended hook size for your chosen yarn

For my scarf I used 1 x ball of Sirdar Jewelspun with Wool in the colourway “Precious Reef” with a 6mm Hook

My scarf is approximately 10ft long with 47 motifs in total (including first and last motif)

WRITTEN PATTERN - USA STITCH TERMS

Abbreviations

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

exdc - extended double crochet (yarn over, insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop [3 loops on hook] yarn over, pull through one loop only [3 loops on hook] yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over and pull through final 2 loops)

sp - space

Repeat the pattern between the asterisk * …. *

1st Motif

  1. ch8, join with slip stitch to form a ring

    ch3 (counts as exdc), 15 exdc into the ring (16 exdc total)


  2. ch4 (counts as exdc + ch1) and turn

    exdc into next stitch. *ch1, exdc* into all remaining stitches (16 exdc with ch1 spaces inbetween)


  3. ch3 and turn. sc into 1st ch1 sp.

    *ch3, sc in next ch1 sp* x 11 (12 sc total with 3 x ch1 spaces left unworked)

    ch6 and sc into 3rd ch of ch4 from row below to finish 1st motif.

    Do not cut yarn after each motif – this scarf is worked in one continuous piece.


2nd Motif

  1. ch3 and turn. (counts as exdc), 15 exdc into the ch6 space (16 exdc total)


  2. ch4 (counts as exdc + ch1) and turn

    exdc into next stitch. *ch1, exdc* into all remaining stitches (16 exdc with ch1 spaces inbetween)

    Sc into the ch8 ring of 1st Motif to join


  3. ch3 and turn. sc into 1st ch1 sp.

    *ch3, sc in next ch1 sp* x 11 (12 sc total with 3 x ch1 spaces left unworked)

    ch6 and sc into 3rd ch of ch4 from row below to finish 2nd motif.



3rd Motif - PATTERN REPEAT MOTIF

  1. ch3 and turn. (counts as exdc), 15 exdc into the ch6 space (16 exdc total)


  2. ch4 (counts as exdc + ch1) and turn

    exdc into next stitch. *ch1, exdc* into all remaining stitches (16 exdc with ch1 spaces inbetween)

    Sc into the 1st ch3 sp of round 3 on the motif below (in the direction you are pointing)


  3. ch3 and turn. sc into 1st ch1 sp.

    *ch3, sc in next ch1 sp* x 11 (12 sc total with 3 x ch1 spaces left unworked)

    ch6 and sc into 3rd ch of ch4 from row below to finish 3rd motif.


PATTERN REPEAT - Repeat Rows 1 - 3 of the 3rd Motif

4th / Final Motif - once your scarf is the length you want it to be

  1. ch3 and turn. (counts as exdc), 15 exdc into the ch6 space (16 exdc total)


  2. ch4 (counts as exdc + ch1) and turn

    exdc into next stitch. *ch1, exdc* into all remaining stitches (16 exdc with ch1 spaces inbetween)

    Sc into the 1st ch3 sp of round 3 on the motif below (in the direction you are pointing)


  3. ch3 and turn. sc into 1st ch1 sp.

    *ch3, sc in next ch1 sp* into all remaining ch1 spaces.


Cut your yarn and weave in ends.
