Crochet Puff Square WRITTEN PATTERN
USA STITCH TERMS
You can use any yarn and hook you would like.
Hook Size(s): according to your yarn
Yarn used in my variegated squares: Red Heart Super Saver Prints in the shade "Ocean" & Red Heart Super Saver White with a 5.5mm hook
Abbreviations:
• Ch = Chain
• SC= Single Crochet
• DC= Double Crochet
• St = Stitch
• Sl St = Slip Stitch
• Sk = skip
Special Stitch:
Front Post Puff: Yarn over, Insert hook behind stitch, pull up a loop. Yarn over going behind the same stitch, pull up a loop. With 5 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through the first 4 loops. With 2 loops left on your hook, yarn over and pull through both.
Using first yarn colour:
Foundation: Ch 5
DC into the first Ch you made. (the 4 chain you skipped will count as a DC and Ch 1)
Ch 1, DC into the first Ch you just worked into. (We will be working all out stitches in this round into that same sp.)
Repeat Ch1, DC into the same space until you have a total of 8 DC and 8 Ch 1 spaces.
Sl St to the 3rd Ch from Ch 4 from the beginning.
Round 2: Ch 1, Front Post Puff.
Ch 3, Front Post Puff around the next DC.
3DC in the Ch 1 sp.
Front Post Puff around the next DC.
Ch 3, Front Post Puff around the next DC.
3DC in the Ch 1 sp.
Front Post Puff around the next DC.
Ch 3, Front Post Puff around the next DC.
3DC in the Ch 1 sp.
Front Post Puff around the next DC.
Ch 3, Front Post Puff around the last DC.
3DC in the last Ch 1 sp.
Sl St to the top of the first puff stitch.
Change yarn colour:
Round 3: Join into any Ch 3 space.
Ch 3, 2 DC into same Ch 3 sp. Ch 2, 3DC into same Ch 3 sp.
DC into the top of the puff stitch from the previous Round.
DC in the next 3 DC sts.
DC into the top of the next puff stitch from the previous Round.
3DC into next Ch 3 sp. Ch 2, 3DC into same Ch 3 sp.

SC in the next 5 sts.

Sk 1 st.
SC in the next 5 sts.
