Crochet Puff Flower Blanket - JOIN AS YOU GO WRITTEN PATTERN

USA STITCH TERMS

Hook Size(s): according to your yarn

I made my blanket 18 puff flowers wide by 29 flowers long (each flower being made up of 2 rows)

This made an overall blanket size of approximately 34 inches wide by 41 inches long 😊

In the sample blanket I used Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK in the colours: Cream, Spearmint, Mint, Primrose, Salmon, Cupid & Neon with a 4mm Hook.

Abbreviations:

• Ch = Chain

• Sl St = Slip Stitch

• Rep = Repeat

• St = Stitch

• Sl St = Slip Stitch

SPECIAL STITCH:

SPECIAL STITCH: Beginning Puff Stitch: Starting with two loops on hook (from inserting hook into last st),* YO insert into space, draw up a loop.* Repeat 3 more times. Total of 10 loops on hook. YO draw through all the loops on hook.

Puff Stitch: YO, insert into space, draw up a loop. Repeat 4 times. Total of 11 loops on your hook. YO pull through all loops on hook. Ch 1 to end.


Foundation: Ch 9, sk first 5 Chs, Sl St into next 3 Chs. Insert hook into last Ch work beginning puff stitch into the Ch 5 ring just created.

Repeat *Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.* 3 times.

Total of 1 beginning puff, and 3 regular puffs.

This is the first half of your flower.

Row 1: Ch 10. Sk first 5 Chs, Sl St into the next 3 sts. Insert hook into last Ch, work begging puff stitch into the Ch 5 ring just created.

Repeat *Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.* 3 times.

Repeat Row 1 as many times to create the width you desire.

Row 2: Repeat *Ch 3, puff stitch into the Ch 5 sp from previous row.* twice. Ch 3, SC around the Ch 1 sp between flowers.

This completes your flower. Each flower should have 1 beginning puff stitch and 5 regular puff stitches for a total of 6.

Keep repeating Row 2 across. Once you reach the last puff stitch, Ch 3, Sl St to beginning puff. Tie off.

Grab new colour yarn

Row 3: Ch 9, sk first 5 Chs, Sl St into next 3 Chs. Insert hook into last Ch work beginning puff stitch into the Ch 5 ring just created.

Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.

Connect Row 3 to Row 2: start from the beginning puff of the last flower created in Row 2, skip a puff to the left and attach to the next puff stitch (closest to the Ch 1 sp between flowers)

Ch 3, work puff into the Ch 5 space created in row 3.

Connect to the next flower: Insert hook into the first puff st of the next flower from row 2. Join.

Ch 3, work puff into the Ch 5 space created in row 3.

Repeat across *Ch 10. Sk first 5 Chs, Sl St into the next 3 sts. Insert hook into last Ch, work begging puff stitch into the Ch 5 ring just created.

Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.

Join to the next puff of the same flower you just joined to.

Ch 3, work puff into the Ch 5 space.

Connect to the next flower: Insert hook into the first puff st of the next flower from row 2. Join.

Ch 3, work puff into the Ch 5 space. *

You will have one less flowers than you had in Row 2.

Row 4: Repeat *Ch 3, puff stitch into the Ch 5 sp from previous row.* twice. Ch 3, SC around the Ch 1 sp between flowers.

Keep repeating Row 4 across. Once you reach the last puff stitch, Ch 3, Sl St to beginning puff. Tie off.

Grab new colour yarn

Row 5: Ch 9, sk first 5 Chs, Sl St into next 3 Chs. Insert hook into last Ch work beginning puff stitch into the Ch 5 ring just created.

Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.

Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.

Connect to Row 4: Join to very last puff stitch made in Row 4.

Ch 3, work puff into Ch 5 from Row 5.

Repeat across *Ch 10. Sk first 5 Chs, Sl St into the next 3 sts. Insert hook into last Ch, work begging puff stitch into the Ch 5 ring just created.

Ch 3, Puff stitch into Ch 5 loop.

Join to the next puff of the same flower you just joined to.

Ch 3, work puff into the Ch 5 space.

Connect to the next flower: Insert hook into the first puff st of the next flower from row 4. Join.

Ch 3, work puff into the Ch 5 space. *

You will have the same amount of flowers that you had in Row 2.

Row 6: Repeat *Ch 3, puff stitch into the Ch 5 sp from previous row.* twice. Ch 3, SC around the Ch 1 sp between flowers.

Keep repeating Row 6 across. Once you reach the last puff stitch, Ch 3, Sl St to beginning puff. Tie off.

Repeat Rows 3-6 until the desired length.

Weave in any loose ends.
