Crochet Mile A Minute Shell Wrap / Scarf

Learn how to crochet this beautiful Mile-A-Minute Shell Stitch Wrap / Scarf! This soft airy lightweight crochet wrap is fantastic for summer as a loose cover up to keep the cool air off your shoulders.

In the video I show you step by step how to crochet the wrap and how to add the tassels at the end. Keep scrolling for the written pattern :D

Written Pattern: USA STITCH TERMS

For scarf - 1 x Shawl in a Ball Yarn, 4mm Hook - 5 strips wide, 80 shells long

For Wrap - 2 x Shawl in a Ball Yarn, 4mm Hook - 9 strips wide, approximately 90 shells long

For your wrap you may decide you want it longer and / or wider. Please note you will probably require at least 3 balls of the Shawl in a Ball Yarn for this :-)

Abbreviations:

Ch = chain

ss = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

SPECIAL STITCH PLEASE READ: dc = double crochet HOWEVER, this stitch will be elongated. Yarn over, go into ch space, yarn over and draw loop back through (3 loops on your hook) pull the loops up high and tall like a puff stitch. Then, yarn over and draw through 2 loops, yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops to complete the stitch.

Repeat the pattern between the asterisk * ….. *

1st Strip

ch6, ss to form a ring.

ch4, 6dc into ring, ch4, sc into ring (1st shell made)

*ch 4, turn, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space*

Repeat making your shells for as long as you wish your project to be. Note how many shells you made for this strip.

Once you have finished your final shell, ch1, cut your yarn and begin the next strip

2nd Strip and Joining - join on the 3rd shell - please see video for clarification

ch6, ss to form a ring.

ch4, 6dc into ring, ch4, sc into ring (1st shell made)

ch 4, turn, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (2nd shell made)

ch4, turn, ss to 1st dc of adjoining shell, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (3rd shell made AND JOINED)

ch 4, turn, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (4th shell made)

ch4, turn, ss to 1st dc of adjoining shell, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (5th shell made AND JOINED)

continue alternating making a shell, joining a shell for the same amount of shells as strip one.

Once you have finished your final shell, ch1, cut your yarn and begin the next strip

3rd Strip and Joining - join on the 2nd shell - please see video for clarification

ch6, ss to form a ring.

ch4, 6dc into ring, ch4, sc into ring (1st shell made)

ch4, turn, ss to 1st dc of adjoining shell, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (2nd shell made AND JOINED)

ch 4, turn, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (3rd shell made)

ch4, turn, ss to 1st dc of adjoining shell, 6dc into ch4 space, ch4, sc into ch4 space (4th shell made AND JOINED)

continue alternating making a shell, joining a shell for the same amount of shells as strip one.

Once you have finished your final shell, ch1, cut your yarn and begin the next strip

4th Strip and Joining - repeat 2nd Strip

5th Strip and Joining - repeat 3rd Strip

Continue repeating strips 4 & 5 for as wide as you want your project to be.

Once all strips are complete and joined for your project, weave ends in OR add tassels - see video
