USA STITCH TERMS
Hook Size(s): according to your yarn
Yarn used in imagery - Scheepjes Chunky Monkey with a 6mm Hook
Colours (in order of use) Cardinal, Coral, Deep Orange, Ochre, Mustard, Eucalyptus, Cornflower Blue, Mauve & Amethyst
Abbreviations:
• Ch = Chain
• SC = Single crochet
• DC = Double crochet
• DC Spike = Double crochet spike
• Ch sp = Chain space
• Rep = Repeat
• YO = Yarn over
• St = Stitch
SPECIAL STITCH: Double Crochet Spike Stitch: YO, insert hook in ch sp two rows down, YO, and complete the DC as normal.
Foundation Row: Ch multiples of 4 until you get the desired width plus 1 for turning.
Row 1: Starting in the fourth ch from the hook, make 2 DC and rep *ch 1, skip 1 st, 3 DC* across.
Row 2: Ch 3 (this counts as the first st) and turn.
Make 2 DC and rep *ch 1, skip 1 st, 3 DC* across.
Row 3: Ch 4 (this counts as the first st and ch 1) and turn.
Rep *skip 1 st, 1 DC, 1 DC Spike, 1 DC, ch 1* across.
Row 4: Ch 4 (this counts as the first st and ch 1) and turn.
Rep *3 DC, ch 1, skip 1 st* across.
Row 5: Ch 3 (this counts as the first st) and turn.
Rep *1 DC Spike, 1 DC, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 DC* across.
Row 6: Ch 3 (this counts as the first st) and turn.
Make 2 DC and rep *ch 1, skip 1 st, 3 DC* across.
Rows 7-onward: Rep rows 3-6 for as long as you’d like your project to be.
