How to Crochet a Fan Lace Scarf! This stunning scarf looks complicated but is in fact, a very simple and EASY 3 row repeat!

Made entirely in one piece, it shows off your variegated yarns beautifully. If you are looking for something a little bit different to crochet that has the โ€œwowโ€ factor, then this is the scarf for you!

WRITTEN PATTERN - USA STITCH TERMS

Abbreviations

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

sp - space

Repeat the pattern between the asterisk * โ€ฆ. *

Yarn used: Hobbii Cookie cake (2/3rd of a ball used: approximately 400 meters of the cake) with a 5.5mm Hook

My scarf is approximately 7ft long with 45 motifs in total (including first and last motif)

1st Motif

  1. ch7, join with slip stitch to form a ring

  2. ch3, 15dc into the ring, slip stitch to join to initial ch3

  3. ch4 and turn. dc into next stitch, ch1. *dc, ch1* around (16 dc and 16 ch1 sp total)

    Join with slip stitch to 3rd ch of initial ch4

  4. ch3 and turn. dc into 1st ch1 sp, ch3 then 6dc around the post of the last dc you made. Skip next dc, sc into the next dc. 1st petal made.

    * ch2, dc in ch1 sp, ch3, 6dc around the post of the last dc you made, skip next dc, sc into the next dc* x 5 (6 petals made) Ch6, sc into the last ch sp of motif. Do not cut yarn.

2nd Motif

  1. ch3 and turn. 13dc into ch6 sp. sc into 3rd stitch of petal from motif below, ch3, sc into the ch3 sp of same petal.

  2. ch1 and turn. dc in 1st stitch, ch1. *dc in next stitch, ch1* to end, ending with last dc in the ch3 sp. Ch3, join with sc to ch sp of petal

  3. ch1 and turn. dc into 1st ch1 sp, ch3 then 6dc around the post of the last dc you made. Skip next dc, sc into the next dc. 1st petal made.

    * ch2, dc in ch1 sp, ch3, 6dc around the post of the last dc you made, skip next dc, sc into the next dc* x 4 (5 petals made) . Ch6, sc into the top of the sc joining the petals - please see video if unsure

PATTERN REPEAT - Repeat Row 1 - 3 of the 2nd Motif

3rd / Final Motif

  1. ch3 and turn. 13dc into ch6 sp. sc into 3rd stitch of petal from motif below, ch3, sc into the ch3 sp of same petal.

  2. ch1 and turn. dc in 1st stitch, ch1. *dc in next stitch, ch1* to end, ending with last dc in the ch3 sp. Ch3, join with sc to ch sp of petal

  3. ch1 and turn. dc into 1st ch1 sp, ch3 then 6dc around the post of the last dc you made. Skip next dc, sc into the next dc. 1st petal made.

    * ch2, dc in ch1 sp, ch3, 6dc around the post of the last dc you made, skip next dc, sc into the next dc* x 5 (6 petals made) . Sli stitch into next stitch, ch1, cut yarn.
