Abbreviations:

• SC = Single crochet

• TR = Treble crochet

• PS3 = Puff Shell Star Stitch

• HPS3 = Half Puff Shell Star Stitch

• Rep = Repeat

• Ch sp = Chain space

• St = Stitch

Special Stitches:

Puff Shell Star Stitch: (yarn over, insert hook in the stitch, yarn over, pull up) 8 times (NOT in the same st) for 17 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through 16 loops, yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops.

Half Puff Shell Star Stitch: (yarn over, insert hook in the stitch, yarn over, pull up) 4 times (NOT in the same st) for 9 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through 8 loops, yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops.

Multiple 9 + 2

Foundation Row: Ch as many as you need for your project.

Row 1: Starting from the second ch from the hook, make 1 SC, ch 4. Rep *1 PS3 over the next 8 ch, ch 4, 1 SC, ch 4* across. Finish the row with 1 SC in the last st.

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Rep *ch 9, skip the PS3, 1 SC in the SC between the two PS3* across. Finish the row with 1 SC in the last st.

Row 3: Ch 4 (ch 1 plus ch 3) and turn. Rep *1 HPS3 in the ch 4 of row 1 (working over the ch sp of row 2), ch 4, 1 SC on top of the PS3 of row 1, ch 4, 1 PS3 in two ch 4 sp of row 1 (working over the ch sp of row 2)* across. You will skip the SC in between. The row will end with 1 HPS3 and 1 TR in the last st of row 1.

Row 4: Ch 5 (ch 1 plus ch 4) and turn. Rep *skip the ch sp, 1 SC in the SC between the two PS3, ch 9*. To finish the row, ch 4 and 1 SC in the last st.

Row 5: Ch 1 and turn. Make 1 SC in the same st. Rep *ch 4, 1 PS3 in two ch 4 sp of row 3, 1 SC on top of the PS3 of the previous row, ch 4*. Finish the row with 1 SC in the last st of row 3.

Rows 6-onward: Rep rows 2-5.
